WAEON Statement on the Liberia 2017 Elections

Posted on Oct-16 2017

The West Africa Election Observation Network (WAEON) wishes to commend the people of Liberia for a peaceful polling day process for the election of a President and Members of the House of Representatives on October 10, 2017. On the whole, the polling day seems to have been smooth without any threats to the peace and security of Liberia, in spite of few lapses experienced during the election which largely bothered on voters finding it difficult to locate their polling places within voting precincts; others not finding their names in the voters list; and long queues at voting precincts. WAEON urges Liberians to continue to exercise patience even as tallying of results continues in some magisterial areas. In addition, the entire West African sub-region is rallying solidly behind Liberia in expectation of the country attaining three successively organized elections. Please click link for more.
